  • Who and what is behind WAMTI?
WAMTI is a global and social movement that was launched in 2019 by Josef Grünbichler, a trained hotelier and IT entrepreneur from Kaufering (Germany). Both at home and when traveling around the world, he noticed the same situations in restaurants and bars: people who are on vacation, for leisure or for business, but also guests from the same city who do not know each other, sit at separate tables as a courtesy. When asked, more than half of the guests said that they would not mind if more people sat at their table. Many people are open-minded, friendly and open to new acquaintances. From this experience the idea of the WAMTI arose as a global encouragement for more encounters among people from all over the world and to promote communication, tolerance and friendship. There was also the need to make a contribution to a healthier environment. Therefore, a generous portion of the revenue from the WAMTI sales is donated to the non-profit Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation.
